Before “The Wallaceburg Senior Citizen’s Club” (now known as Wallaceburg Adult Activity Center) officially opened their doors on July 1, 1975, the idea for a Senior Citizen’s Club began in 1973. The Lawn Bowling League thought the local Senior Citizens would like to become socially and physically active; thus a club would be an ideal venue to meet those needs. In 1974, a town meeting was held at the high school regarding forming a Senior Citizens Club. Mayor Cecile Bechard, Wallaceburg Recreation Director and Doctor Holmes (MP) listened to the speakers share their opinions and needs for a Senior Citizens Club. In 1974, the old Royal Bank building was purchased by the Town of Wallaceburg for this purpose. In 1975 the Wallaceburg Centennial Community Centre was created; this is where the Wallaceburg Senior Citizens Club planted their roots in the community. October 9th 1975, The Wallaceburg Senior Citizens Club was incorporated.
